Resident Artist
John
Zender Estrada
John
began his fine art
studies at the Otis Art Institute, majoring in fine art and
illustration. While
attending Otis, John immersed himself in the urban art scene of LA. He
was one
of the pioneers that created the graffiti art movement in the early
eighties.
John had his first one-man show in 1988, "Zender Neo-Expressionism,"
under his artist name Zender One.
Since then, Zender
has committed himself to public art, becoming one of the
most prolific muralists in Los Angeles. He has produced over 300 murals
in Los
Angeles, the United States, and Northern Ireland. Aside from his public
art
projects, Zender has experimented diligently with many schools of
painting
producing a unique painting theory he named “The Sum of the Whole -
Spirituality in Art.” His work has been exhibited at the Museum of
Contemporary
Art, Zero-1 Gallery, Pueblo Gallery, and many others. Bluebird Art
House in
Whittier, CA currently represents his work.
"My
work is influenced by the word of God. I want to bring eternal
spiritual
concepts into my works. I use the artistic language to communicate life
and
existence. When I see a vision or a spiritual truth it holds so much
mystery
that using mere recognizable imagery can't."
